Literie is the brainchild of Erica Werber, a born and raised New Yorker, whose father could never pass the scent of hot roasted nuts from the corner cart without buying a bag. With the onset of Covid-19 and the exodus from New York, Werber found the city getting an undeserved bad rap and decided to create Literie to highlight the joys of NYC and to allow residents, visitors, and defectors alike to carry the best parts of it into their homes.
"This is my love letter to New York City. I was born in Midtown East. I met my husband in Little Italy and we were married in Battery Park. I birthed my children on the Upper East Side and we live on the Upper West Side. I even ran the New York City Marathon. Let’s just say, I know what this city smells like. The idea for this came about as I passed by a hot roasted nut cart on my daily commute to work. I wanted to figure out a way to bottle the familiar scent which led me to think about all of the other amazing smells of this city."
